After long discussions in kinchat, on our facebook page and amongst the officers, we decided that the kinship will move to Laurelin.

We endeavour to keep our members updated along the way - transfer date, procedure etcetera. Don't forget to check back here for more information later on!

UPDATE
We will start the transfer process coming Monday the 28th. This means Williamfour is going to transfer first. You will be kinless, as he's taking the kin with him.
Wait for our signal that you can start moving. If you're moving off too early you won't automatically rejoin the kin on Laurelin.

As you log on, please look for the officers via /world, or the userchat Braveknight. Also, add the character Lewilas to your friend list, so you can reach Will. We will probably be on TeamSpeak as well.

When the transfers open up for us, which is not currently the case. Expect somewhere mid to end of September!

The Transfer Process
Transfers have opened up, and Gilrain is next in line. In this post I will explain the process which we will hopefully follow as a kin. Please keep in mind that transferring characters or shared storage could take up to 4 hours at peak time.

You can find the transfer button on the LOTRO launcher, after you've logged in, before you select a server. The tool itself is quite straight forward, no worries about that!

    1) In-game mail: we will send a mail informing you on our destination (Laurelin) and saying we’re ready to head off! This mail will be available for 6 months.

    2) Preparing yourself:
      a) Empty your mailbox of items, as mail will not transfer. Same goes for your items on the Auction House.
      b) What will transfer with each character: vault items, bags, account bound items in the premium wallet.
      c) For housing, please see the separate header.

    3) Kin leader: the kin leader transfers first, and as such brings the kinship to Laurelin.
      a) The kinship WILL disband on Gilrain. You will automatically rejoin once you are on Laurelin.
      b) Data on the kinship, such as join date, kinship rank will be maintained.
      c) Should you move before the kin leader does, this data will be lost and you will not automatically rejoin the kinship once it’s established.

    4) Your main: transfer your main character first.
      a) By main character I mean the character that bought your house. If you don’t know which character this is, go to character page, click on house, on the very top of the page it should say “House of X”. X is your house owner/main!
      b) When transferring any character, you will be locked out of the game and the official LOTRO forums. Wait till you receive a mail from Turbine saying the transfer process has finished. Then CHECK on your target server.
      c) You can split your character and move each one separately to your preferred server.
      d) For naming, please see the separate header.

    5) Shared Storage: move your shared storage over. Check it.
      a) This cannot be split over multiple servers.
      b) This includes: premium wallet/bound to account items such as marks, medallions; shared storage; housing storage and non-bound items; wardrobe; destiny points.
      c) With any storage, if you already have items on the target server, these vaults/chests will be merged, and if you have too many the new items will be put in overflow. This means they will be accessible, but when removed you cannot put it back in (till there’s space).

    6) Move your remaining characters. Check again.

Naming conventions
When you move your character:
    > If the name is not taken on the target server when you “arrive”, you will keep the name.
    > If the name is taken on the target server when you “arrive”, and the other character has been active in the past year, your character’s name will be changed to name-1. You are supposed to get a rename token, or perhaps a notification asking for a name change. If not, contact a GM via a ticket (not for f2p?).
    > If the name is taken on the target server when you “arrive”, and the other character has not been active in the past year, your character will keep its name.

If you wish to change your name regardless of whether it’s been taken, follow the following procedure:
    i) Make a character with the name you wish to change (character X) on either target server or “the other server”.
ii) Move character X to this server. You will receive a rename token/notification, and you can rename!
iii) Move character X to your preferred server, and enjoy your new name!

Please keep in mind that there is a naming policy on Laurelin. For all intents and purposes, do not assume you can get away with it just because “it’s so busy anyway”.
Please read: http://support.turbine.com/link/portal/24001/24047/Article/4758/LOTRO-Official-Roleplaying-Rules-and-Policy

In the case of the kinship name being taken, we will be called INVICTA-1. Obviously this is a matter that the kin leader only can solve, but just giving you a heads-up.

Housing
    – You will lose your house on Gilrain once you move your house owner. You will not automatically get a new house on target server.
    - Any upkeep you have paid in advance will be refunded. On the target server, you will get a mail refunding the charge you paid upfront for the house.
    - Non-bound housing items will be returned to the housing escrow (if not, check your house vault). Escrow brokers can be found in the main “shop area” in the neighbourhoods or at vault-keepers. It will contain both decorations in the house and garden and items from the housing vault.
    - Bound housing items will be returned to the owner automatically. If the owner does not exist anymore, the item will be deleted.
    - We will try to get a relatively quiet neighbourhood for the kin, so we can claim it for Invicta as we do now ;) We will however need to scout for this (help is welcome!), so we won’t find it straight away.

Just had a quick look at the housing situation, there a quite a few neighbourhoods with kin houses, around 5 or so deluxe and 15 or so standard. On the assumption most people would want deluxe house the most available in a neighbourhood is 8, Grimstable for example. I'm guessing this is the max number in any 1 area.

There's 10 deluxes in each area. We can opt for more than one kin neighbourhood though :P

Please note:
Quote:
As part of the server merges, we are aware that there are many people who are entering Laurelin and Belegaer without a full understanding of the rules for a roleplay server. These servers have enforced roleplay names. This means that any name that falls outside of those rules is subject to change. This can come as a shock to those who have played for years with a name they are attached to but which falls outside of these rules.
Until December 31st 2015, we will attempt to practice a relaxed version of the naming rules as though the servers were just like the ones who do not enforce roleplay names. I would encourage those who plan to call these roleplay enforced servers their home to contact In-Game Support to request a rename token as part of a proactive approach to avoid a naming violation. In 2016, the naming policy will revert to the original roleplay enforced version and your name will be subject to those rules.
